Lt Gen (Dr.) Daljit Singh (Retd.)

LT GEN (DR) DALJIT SINGH, AVSM, VSM (RETD), has joined as the new Executive Director of AIIMS Bilaspur (HP) on 1^st October, 2025. He is a renowned figure defined by 40 years of extensive professional experience within the Armed Forces, combining strategic military leadership with specialized medical expertise. His career culminated in the role of Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS), representing the highest echelon of military medical command. Furthermore, he held the esteemed position of Honorary Surgeon to the President of India.

General Singh's exemplary service has earned him significant recognition, including the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM). His leadership and commitment were also recognized with Commendations from the Chief of the Air Staff and the Chief of the Army Staff.

His administrative experience includes a range of pivotal command and staff appointments across the military medical structure. These include serving as Director General Medical Services (Army) at IHQ of MoD (Army), New Delhi, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Medical) at Air HQ, and Assistant Chief of Integrated Defence Staff  (Medical) at HQ IDS. Additionally, he held medical administrative appointments as Air Officer Commanding, 7 Air Force HospitalKanpur, and Principal Medical Officer at HQ Central Air Command, Allahabad.

An alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, LT GEN Singh possesses a robust academic foundation focused on critical healthcare specialization. He holds a Master’s Degree in Pediatrics from Pune University and a DNB in Pediatrics from NBE, along with a DM in Neonatology from PGIMER Chandigarh.

His clinical advisory experience is substantial, having served as a Senior Advisor in Pediatrics& Neonatology at various prestigious facilities, including Command Hospital Bengaluru, Command Hospital Pune, and 7 Air Force Hospital Kanpur. He also worked as a Consultant in Pediatrics and Neonatology at Command Hospital Bengaluru.

LT GEN Singh’s expertise extends into the realms of medical education and research. He is a respected Fellow of major professional bodies, holding Fellowships of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (FAMS), the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (FIAP), and the National Neonatology Forum (FNNF).

He contributes actively to the standardization and quality of medical training as a Post Graduate examiner for institutions such as NBE New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, RGUHS Bengaluru, and MUHS Nashik. Furthermore, he is a Certified National Trainer for the Neonatal resuscitation programme, demonstrating a commitment to advanced clinical skill development. His dedication to advancing medical knowledge is further evidenced by his role as a Principal worker or Co-worker in multiple research projects.
