In-patient Department

  • Dedicated pediatric surgical wards with child-friendly environment.
  • Management of neonatal and pediatric surgical conditions, including congenital anomalies.
  • Specialized care for neonatal surgical emergencies such as tracheoesophageal fistula, intestinal atresia, and anorectal malformations.
  • Pediatric intensive care support in coordination with NICU and PICU services.
  • Elective and emergency surgical procedures including open and minimally invasive / laparoscopic surgeries.
  • Comprehensive pre-operative assessment and post-operative care.
  • Pain management, nutritional support, and infection control.
  • Multidisciplinary care involving neonatology, pediatrics, anaesthesia, and radiology.

Out-patient Department

  • Evaluation and management of congenital and acquired pediatric surgical conditions.
  • Antenatal counseling for detected congenital anomalies.
  • Follow-up care for post-operative patients.
  • Pediatric urology, gastrointestinal, and thoracic surgical consultations.
  • Minor procedures and day-care surgeries.
  • Growth and developmental assessment in surgical patients.
  • Counseling of parents and guardians regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis.
  • Referral and coordination with other specialties for comprehensive care.

Procedures (Diagnostic and/or Therapeutic) Offered by the Department

A. Pediatric Urology Procedures

  • Urethroplasty including Snodgrass repair, staged and redo procedures.
  • Hypospadias repair (Stage I & II).
  • Orchidopexy (open and laparoscopic), orchidectomy.
  • Ureteric reimplantation (e.g., Cohen’s procedure).
  • Pyeloplasty (open and laparoscopic).
  • Cystoscopy, urethral dilatation, DJ stenting and removal.
  • UCF (urethrocutaneous fistula) closure.
  • Meatotomy and chordee correction.
  • PUV fulguration.

B. General Pediatric Surgery

  • Herniotomy / Hernioplasty (open & laparoscopic, unilateral / bilateral).
  • Appendectomy (open and laparoscopic).
  • Circumcision.
  • Excision of cysts, sinuses, lymph nodes, and soft tissue lesions.
  • Incision and drainage of abscesses.
  • Polypectomy.

C. Gastrointestinal & Neonatal Surgery

  • Exploratory laparotomy with bowel resection and anastomosis.
  • Management of intestinal obstruction and intussusception.
  • Stoma creation and closure (ileostomy / colostomy).
  • Duodenostomy and duodenojejunostomy.
  • Ladd’s procedure.
  • Anorectal malformation surgeries including PSARP, ASARP, anoplasty, and rectal biopsy.

D. Minimally Invasive (Laparoscopic / Thoracoscopic) Procedures

  • Laparoscopic appendectomy, orchidopexy, and herniotomy.
  • Laparoscopic pyeloplasty and cholecystectomy.
  • Diagnostic laparoscopy.
  • Thoracoscopic procedures including CDH repair, decortication, and cyst excision.

E. Thoracic & Airway Procedures

  • Bronchoscopy with foreign body removal.
  • Tracheostomy.
  • VATS (Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery) procedures.

F. Emergency & Trauma Procedures

  • Testicular torsion exploration and detorsion.
  • Peritonitis management with lavage.
  • Pediatric emergency trauma management.

G. Miscellaneous Procedures

  • Tongue-tie release.
  • Hydrocelectomy and varicocelectomy.
  • Biopsies including lymph node and mucosal biopsies.
