Urology
Introduction
The Department of Urology was established in June 2022 with the joining of Dr. Uma Kant Dutt as Assistant Professor, who was later promoted to Associate Professor. The department initially commenced with outpatient consultation services and gradually expanded to inpatient admissions and operative services from February 2023 onward.
Despite functioning with limited faculty strength, the department has rapidly evolved into a comprehensive tertiary care superspecialty center delivering advanced clinical, surgical, transplant, academic, and research services in urology.
The early growth of the department was strongly supported by dedicated non-academic junior residents who contributed significantly toward building the department’s clinical and operational framework.
Currently, the department conducts OPD services three times weekly with an average attendance of approximately 100–150 patients per OPD session.
The department presently operates three elective operation theatre days weekly under general/regional anesthesia and three dedicated local OT sessions weekly for daycare and minor procedures.
The department currently has 20 operational beds, with future plans for expansion.
The department caters to patients from Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh.
